My first audiobook!

First things first – Disclaimer – I have read all of Penny Reid’s previous books and all of the previous books in the Smartypants Romance universe. Although this book can be read as a stand-alone, I would recommend reading the previous books as it creates more depth to reading the story and understanding the backgrounds of characters that may appear every now and then. I am also an ‘In the loop’ Patreon for Smartypants Romance which involves having access to one eARC per year, which this book is not.
I have previously read this book and decided to download the audio book from audible as I loved the characters so much (*swoon* Dan the Security Man). What a treat listening to the audio version has been, particularly as the characters have accents and personalities that aren’t always that easy to keep up with when reading words from a page. I loved how Stephen Dexter playing Dan managed to portray his extremely comical dry humour and deep Bostonian accent.
Marriage of Inconvenience is a slow burn, friends to lovers book with realistic characters and thoroughly enjoyable storylines for each. Full of intrigue and enough drama to leave you wanting to hear/read more. I loved reading this book, but definitely preferred listening to the audio version. This is a book I think I’d be more than happy to re-read many, many times and I’m not really somebody who re-reads, so for me that speaks volumes for how much I truly enjoy reading Penny Reid’s series’.
Not only is the romance and relationship between Kat and Dan swoon worthy, but so is the relationship between them and their close knit group of friends. The book is full of many laugh out loud and light hearted moments. I’ve already recommended this (and anything Penny Reid/Smartypants Romance) to quite a few people and would definitely recommend giving it a go if you’re intrigued! This book can be read as a part of the series or as a stand-alone, although I would always recommend reading as part of the series!
